Week 2

Okay, whoo! What a week. It's my second week out here and I feel like it should probably been like half of my mission! I have been getting a little better at contacting people on the the street and the bus. Everyone here loves God though so if you can get them talking about God you have got a good start! Probably one of my favorite things is baring my testimony that our God is a Love god and that we are all his children and he just wants us to succeed in this life and be happy, and we can achieve this happiness through the words of the Lord found in The Book of Mormon!! haha. Once these sweet people understand that they are golden!
We have been teaching a woman named Janet she speak french and very little English haha I think of Tim when every I meet with her. We taught her the first lesson and I know if she got much out of it, but we are going to try and find her a Book of Mormon in French to read and then hopefully she will see what we were talking about and get a little more interested. She has a strong belief in God and is so sweet. We have two other investigators the speak two different kind of Chinese so we have been going slow with them because first of all we can't really understand them and second they can't really understand us. I wish so bad I could like speak to them in their native tongue so they could understand what is being offered to them, but the Lord loves his children and wants them so prosper in this life so we had found members in this ward that can talk to them and translate during church and help us teach them. What a blessing!
this week we went to a bus because we were looking for some Less active's house and the weirdest thing was went we get on this bus no one was on it at all... which is weird for around here. The Bus driver started to talk to us and the Topic of religion came up and he just went off on how he doesn't believe in religion that is doesn't need to be and all this stuff. I just bore my testimony and talked to him about how I know this this church is true and you know what he said after that? I am too young to know that I am just telling people things other people told me to tell someone else. The coolest things was after that terribly long bus ride of being attacked. I realized my foundation has been built upon the rock, and was able to stand steadfast and immovable, because I know with out a doubt that this church is true, that God the Father lives and his beloved son died for our sins so we can return with him again. Life happens, it is hard, but if you are going to be standing on the fence, Satan had already gotten a hold of you, so choose your side. No one is too young to know they are a child of God.
We went to the relief society Broadcast Saturday and it was mixed with the spanish branch so I got to use my espanol with las Hermanas and members of the ward it was so fun to see everyone and kind of catch up. The best part was being able to hear the words of the prophet and the relief society presidency. I can't wait to continue with my mission and tell you all more. I hope everything goes well this week. I love you all and miss you all very very much. Let me know if I can do anything for ya'll. I would love to here from everyone.

Maybe God be with you.

Love, Sister Tincher!

First Week

Hello Family!!
I am so happy to hear that everything is going good back it home. It sounds like a blast and I kind of miss it... but I get we can't really dwell on things we can't change! haha
So this week was crazy and seemed so so long! I don't have my address yet so I can't give it to you... and I left my camera at the apartment so... I can't send any pictures this week... haha I have so many for you though! Ok so We woke up really year to head the airport Monday and I was so nervous and stunned that this was actually happening. It never seems real... haha it STILL doesn't feel real that I am here. When we got off the plane the missionary training sisters met us and the Mission president with he wife. The first thing they said was are you ready to pass out your first book of Mormon on the train!? um... no? haha that's what I was thinking. The city here is really cool! Lots of different people and haha lets just say I stick out like a soar thumb. We went to the Bean and walked around the city and than had some deep dish pizza... you know I never thought I could like a pizza that much but that thing was top notch! The next day I met my companion who is Sister Tui'fua she is Tongan and from California haha and has only been out 6 weeks... to say the least we are learning together! My area is Hyde Park we literally are like 2 blocks from Obama's house, I always think of dad when we pass it. Oh did you hear the Chicago is #1 for gun violence in America? It's okay we are protected by the best person out there. We live in the city though, south Chicago---it's the real deal! I love it, it's like my dreams; everything I have dreamed of, the people are a little hard to talk to we ride the bus everywhere and walk everywhere. All the houses are like these huge skyscrapers or tall apartment buildings that you have to push a button and ask for the person to let you in, than they will buzz you in and you take an elevator up to their room... yeah I have been riding elevators all this week, I am so scared every time especially when they are like barley moving up and then they get stuck, but it's fine- it fine I can't fret.
We have been teaching a couple different people here every time they hear I am from Utah they said "Girl, we gotta break you in!" I am thinking... I have more soul than you realize, but I don't say it I get too scared.. When ever I come to these peoples houses or get on the bus little kids are like, "I like your hair" or "can I play with your hair?" haha It's definitely something I need to get used to. I love visiting these people though and teaching them the gospel I can't fathom living with out the knowledge of this Church. Do you realize that because the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored  and the priesthood power has been brought back to the people the heavens are open and we are able to have the power of God with in out homes? yeah it's crazy, but it's straight up the truth. I love having the responsibility of helping people see that.
Oh we have two baptisms coming up one tomorrow and another sometime in the next couple weeks. They are Tommy and Amarie they are 9 and 13 they are kids of Misty who was baptized right before I got here. They call me O.G Tinch (Original Gangster) I did not come up with this myself, they just see they real me! They are a loud and fun family they tell me they will look out for me. . But I love it, and am going to continue to grow. I love you all and miss you so much, I hope everything is going great and I can't wait to hear from you in a week!
God be with you till me meet again! :)

First Day

Hello!!Just want to let you know I love you all so much, and miss you like crazy! The drop off was so quick, but mom! you kept your promise I was trying to make you keep by not crying! ;) haha love you so much :) So the computers are down and that's why I haven't been able to tell you how things are until now!  (and it's my P-day)
The MTC is just grand I am in the West campus which everyone says is much nicer than the main (and it's true) plus we get to be outside a lot more than stuck in what some people say is the jail haha--- doubt it, God doesn't dwell in unholy places. My companion is Sister Harris she is great I think we will get a long just fine really we connected and are in tune with the spirit and our duty here! The days here are so long, and jam packed with things, but at the same time fly by like no one's business!! Which I love, because I love being busy!
I have learned so much and am wanting to teach the people of Chicago more everyday I am out here! Everyone was really nice to use the first day... haha probably because of the wonderful orange dots they put on our name tags! ha it was great. They say just wait until Sunday and you will be good, so I am just pushing to the big Sunday to feel a little bit more under control. I love it here though!
We taught our first investigator yesterday. I'll be honest it's going to take some getting used to, to be able to teach in the MTC to these "investigators" haha but it is good practice, and the work is still the same. I have come to a realization that God really wants the best for anyone and not matter what you are doing in life and where you are; if you come the Lord with a willing heart He will tell you what you are wanting to know in order to succeed. When we went in to teach Nate we planned something along the lines of repentance and coming to the the true happiness by repenting, BUT what ended up happening what that the whole thing went completely out of plan and we taught him prayer! We taught him what it means to pray and how to pray. It was a little iffy at first but we got him to pray! he said he felt something as he did and invited us to come back the next day... which is today! So Sister Harris and I are going to prepare another lesson to bring him closer to Christ and find the Happiness that he deserves to find. Instances like this are what makes me know that I can do this and how fun it is, and SO worth it. God Lives, He loves you and cares about you in every way possible.
I am here, I made it and I am ready to get to work!!
Love, Sister Tincher
