Transfers

So this week we found out about transfers, my companion Sis.nielson is leaving :( she is going to the suburbs up north. She is pretty sad about it, first off she has been here for a long time. 7.5 months! So she loves the people so much and second the investigator she has been teaching for a long time has finally decided to be baptized here! It's pretty depressing. But I am getting new companion. I will let you know about her next week! I am excited to take over the area, but nervous as always :) haha

We have been able to meet with a new referral the elders gave us. They have taught her a couple times, but they figured it might be best if they gave her to us. She was in the Air Force but got released for PTSD, so she struggles. We are working with her, lots of patience! But we got her on date , so there is some things we need to work with before it goes through. She is scared of water.... Haha so that's a little set back but not a big one, hopefully :)

We were able to meet with our other investigator who is a dwarf from Romania, it's pretty sad what she is going through but she is working on moving back to Romania, so we are kind of helping with that at the moment.
The weather here has been pretty great! Kind of cold, but the last couple days it has been wonderful! I am loving life every second. It's so pretty here. I swear I have been dreaming of this place my whole life and never knew it!

We went tracting and contacting one day and had a lot of success, not for our area though.... Which is a bummer. But success is success. The city is great. Very interesting. Since the weather is good everyone is much more willing to talk and listen, and they aren't grumpy :) haha so it's good. I am exited to see what happens with this area!

I love you! Keep on keepin on!

Teaching Experiences

So this week...... wow it was super busy it felt like we had lots of service opportunities and so that was nice, and we got to teach a couple lessons to investigators! We got a new referral last week from a member who knows this girl that she worked with at some association in Romania... Haha I hope that wasn't too hard to follow! But we heard that her husband died about a week and a half ago, and have been married now for about three years? But here is a difficult detail she is struggling with, she is a dwarf and had a two year old son! So we went to help her with some chores and grocery shopping, and then we got to teach her the plan of salvation. It was great. She seems to believe most of the things we do, but I always think it's interesting to teach this lesson because it speak to them in a specific way because you know they have been thinking about it a lot. So we are excited to work more with her and we just need to figure out how we will be getting her a ride to church!

We have this less active who we work with. He is an older gentle man and is super funny, with out trying to be! I think this is the best kind of funny, because it's natural. Haha I just don't know how to explain myself, but as we were talking to him we started to talk about how he was a model. So we asked him if he would be willing to show us how you "walk" and he showed is alright, and it was good. I learned a lot for those future occasions where I will be fashioning! So that was a funny moment for us this week.

Also one of our investigators who is progressing has chosen a time to be baptized! The thing about him is he is from Brazil and wanted to got here to be baptized in the ocean, well we talked to president about something and he said that it would work if he got baptized in the Lake! Hah and so our investigator said that would work and we are going to try and make it work here... On the beach... It will be one to remember that's for sure! But it's exciting haha.

We are working with a less active who has recently decided to come back, and full fledged! It's so amazing and inspiring! I just love to be able to teach him. His testimony is so powerful and the things he is now learning will effect him forever. It just makes me realize, what will it take for you to become converted, what do you have to experience, lose, or feel before you feel like you might just try this "thing" out. I love the power of desire. It's a gift God gives us that drives us to use our agency and if it's for good, that same desire helps us open doors that will enlighten and eliminate our lives with a feeling we wish we could have let ourselves eerie nice earlier.
I love this gospel and the.light I have felt. The hope the comes from the power of the atonement and the knowledge of My Savior is something I would never want to go with out.

The idea is that we are like Lehi in his dream would after being converted to The Lord, would go and desire to share what we have experienced. I know that being rejected is scary, but I am often reminded that it is not the rejection, it's the invitation that counts. Because people can only accept something that have been given!

I love you all so much! I hope that the week is better then the last!
Love you!

Loving the City

We had so much fun talking to Emily on Mother's Day.  She is smiling and loves her mission, especially being in the city.

Sister Tincher and Sister Nielson

Hello everyone!
So this week we have been pretty busy, we had exchanges so I was in charge of the area for a day. Iit really showed me how I will be getting around. It went good though! I feel like I am getting a hang of the city and will be able to figure everything out soon.
Right now we are working on finding new investigators! .... But really, what missionary isn't! It's all about the finding! Haha it is what keeps us going and when you finally have a lesson you see WHY we are out here and the cool things that The Lord brings the His children so they know that he is in their lives. When we pay attention we will start to see.
So anyways actually yesterday! -  Right before we were scheduling to call you guys!! We had an appointment with a lady who I haven't met yet and who Sis. Nielsen has worked with in the past a couple times. It went really good, she is looking for peace in her life and wants to have approval from God since in the past she has had some choices she has made that she feels like she is being punished for. So here is what I am thinking from this:  There are things in this life that we wish we never done, that we may look down on ourselves for and hold us back from pursuing better because we feel as if we don't deserve it. The coolest thing ever, what if I told you that you don't have to feel like this, that the happiness you wish to find is in your reach and it is through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. When we ask God for forgiveness we are starting to access the power of the Atonement, this helps us just begin the process and journey of becoming and doing better!

So after that teaching appointment we had to head to our dinner appointment and it was straight up pouring! And thundering! The bus we were trying to catch was up ahead and we were going to miss it if we didn't run, so here I am sprinting after it! And I missed it by a hair! This seems to happen frequently, so I thought I was looking half way decent to skype my fam, and then no. My hair turned mermaid style and my makeup seemed to smear a tich. It's all good, I think I got the better end of the deal, talking to my loves ones. I guess there is a price to pay for such wonderful things to happen.

We also got a couple of referrals from the bishop which is just so great! So we are really pretty excited about this.

Oh!!! And oh my. It was hot this week! It went straight to cold and freezing to hot! I has l.o.v.i.n.g life!!! So who knows how long that will last. But I am loving Chicago. I am loving the people. Even though we get rejected over and over it great to talk to people.

I hope you have a wonderful week and remember to read your scriptures and say your prayers;   it = happiness. That's the truth. No if, ands, or buts. I love you all and I wish the best for you and the rest of your adventures for these next couple days.
Until next week!
Love, Sister Tincher!
