October 22 letter

I am so glad to here that everything is going good! It seems like you are all having fun and enjoying this great time of the year. This week was really slow and cold, a lot of our investigators cancelled on us or we couldn't get a hold of them, but it was all good in the end.
We got to teach one lady and it was such a blessing I could see an improvement and that we took another step of understanding and knowing coming to a greater knowledge that this is the true church.
Another wonderful thing is that we got to talk to our investigator that was praying to know if she should be baptized it was so cool to see as we called her to see how everything is going and the decision she is trying to make is that, Yes she wants to be baptized! It is such an amazing feeling to find a wonderful and will person that wasn't to be baptized and come closer to Christ. Since my farewell talk was about the Holy ghost I have been really noticing how amazing this gift is and the more I read the Book of Mormon I realize the huge deal that Christ makes of it. It's one of the greatest gifts he has given us. When he came to the Americas he wanted them to have the Holy Ghost so bad! And that is just how this investigator is she wants the Holy Ghost so bad and she wants to come closer to our father. It is such a blessing to be able to be here and see how the gospel of Jesus Christ really changes people when they want to follow God's will. He never will make us doing anything but he does give us the agency to choose from the choices presented. And when we choose righteously we only are given blessings and find true happiness.

At our Zone conference we had Tuesday we have been told that we are the 9th mission in the world who will be able to use Facebook! So I will be in charge of Facebook and my blog for now on haha and I will be able to get on it everyday for an hour to talk to our investigators to teach lessons and set appointments its so awesome and such a great way to get the great word out! I am very excited to see how great this will work out. If we do this right that means more people will we able to use Facebook while on their missions!

Love,

Sister Tincher

Getting transferred

Hello!! It's so good to hear from you. And guess what! I am getting transferred! (So don't send that package to my apartment because I won't be there!) I am going to Gurnee IL and I am pretty excited to see how that will end up going, but I am also nervous to leave Hyde Park I love it here and everyone I have been teaching and meeting on the street, bus, ward and everywhere else. But I know the Lord needs me somewhere else so that is where I will be headed!!
This week was pretty good we finally got to meet with some of the amazing investigators we have and we had exchanges so I took my sister Training leader around the area for a day hahaha I need to work on finding my way around this place, but it was good lots of fun. I love being able to be a missionary and set goal every day to help bring the Restored Gospel to the people of Chicago IL it's such a privilege to know personally that God lives and His son Jesus Christ has brought back their Gospel for the people on this earth to fully use.

This week we got to teach the Plan of Salvation to one of our investigators,(who is top notch). It's probably one of my favorite lessons to teach, because the fact that our families can live together forever and that we can return to our Father who truly loves us and wants us more than anything to live with him again. I think about being out here and my family back at home and how much I miss them and how sweet the day will be when I get to see them all again. The same will go for when I can return to my Father in Heaven and see him and be welcomed home. The more and more I teach the gospel every day the clearer the picture is for me that what we do here in the life is what we are preparing for how we want to live the next.

And not matter how hard our trials get they will be 100% easier with the Lords help, and I say that with all certainty.

But I do love my job right now, it's hard because it's so cold, but once the summer time rolls around I am sure I will love it even more!
I hope everything is going good, thank you for all those letters you are sending it just makes my life so much better. I will write you back today though for sure!!!

Love,

Sister Tincher

Week 5

On a typical day we get up at 6:30 and I pray do some sort of exercise for thirty minutes (I miss the gym) haha and then at 7 we start our personal study! I just finished the Book of Mormon for the second time in my life and so now I am going to read the doctrine and covenants which is good. then I get ready for the day and eat and at 9 we start companion study this is where we plan what we will teach our investigators and the members we visit for the day. And since I am training right now we have an extra hour to doing training our of a booklet they gave us which mostly consists of watch segments out of the District and talking about them haha. when we are all done with that we head out for the day and we going to appointments, visit less actives, or other people and have lunch  sometime and then we have dinner usually with a member and we have to be back at 9 in our apartments. it's sometimes hard to fill up time, but you know me I love to be busy so when we get down time that is when I start to get a little crazy.

My favorite part about being out here is talking to the nice people and then right after they are like I knew there was a reason I came out today or you just made my day and sometimes they say whoo I just got the chills talking to you. Haha it gives me the drive to be brave and continue to talk to people.

So working on week 5 in the mission field! It's flying by it seems like. But this week went really fast and turned out good. We had our first training meeting where all the new missionaries and their trainers got together we talked about Christ-like attributes to have and how important it is to have they while you are working with others. The one I think I am trying the hardest is to have charity for everyone. You know I love people, but when I go to an appointment and the investigator didn't like read or go to church like they said, I get a little disappointing so I am thinking okay how can I help this person see that it is for their benefit and not just because I am asking them to do it. I love thinking of charity and how everything a bout it is Christ. Everything he did revolved around charity and helping out somebody. he never once thought about himself no matter how hard his circumstances got he always wanted the best for somebody else. I need to be like that. haha it will come though, slowly but surely!

After the training meeting was when we did the exchange and I when with the Hermana and headed up the Buffalo Grove/ Waukegan. I thought is was so strange because all the stores had Spanish names like what I learned in spanish class, I was like oh my this is read my teacher wasn't lying. literally all the stores are called milk store, bread store, pastry store, fish store they don't just have like Walmart store, Target store haha anyways thats just a side note I thought was cool, but I loved it. We went to a ward member's house for dinner and they only spake spanish it seemed like the longest appointment of my life, because I could only understand like 10% of what they were talking about, so I just smiled and laughed when they did. I did talk though! and bore my testimony in spainsh and asked them a question! haha it was cool. Now I am back in my area thought and loving every second!

We taught Janet this week a couple times and oh my goooodness! I Sister Emily Tincher asked her to be baptized, I almost fainted while saying the words, but it happened. She said how many months do I have to wait? and I was thinking... months!? Girl no, we don't even have to wait days! ;) haha but she said she wants to learn more and pray about it was well. So I pray that everything will go the Lords will and she will find absolute happiness in her decision to be baptized. It so interesting to see how much people change once they understand what God has to offer through His Gospel and how much happiness and joy you and experience when you follow his plan. I love that I have the opportunity to see that change occur. I love working with people.

I hope everything is going great! I love and miss you and I can not wait to hear from you next week. You guys are in my prayers!

Love, Sister Tincher

October 7, 2013

This week flew by! but it was very good. It hasn't snowed here yet! my companion is like really wanting it to because she is from California, and I am like no you don't want it to it's way to cold for that. Me and my companion are getting along we are really trying to getting good at contacting before the next transfer but it's a struggle for us, we will get the hang of it though.
For conference we went to the church building and watch it there, haha I don't think I have every sat down for every session without getting up before! haha I learned so much and took a lot of notes. Ones of the things that stuck out to me was about having spiritual strength and how it's likened to physical strength and enduring. The more we exercise our spiritual strength the easier the race of this life will be and more capable we will be able to handle the obstacles a long the race with more endurance. The Lord wants us to be strong and like a coach they have us work out, do hard core strength training so when the game comes we will be able to play with with out fatigue. The same works for the Lord and His game. Every challenge and trail is like a strength training session at the gym, while you are doing it you are hating life but when you are done you feel so much better and stronger.
Oh! so some exciting news!! there is a sister in our mission who is really struggling with her mission and she is speaking spanish. President called me and Sister Tuifua and was like, I am impressed to have an exchange for a day with sister Tincher and this other sister. So this Tuesday and Wednesday I am going to be a spanish speaking sister!!!! Ah!! I have secretly been practicing me spanish ha.... it's a secret. I am so excited like, whaaat? yeah very exciting. So I will tell you in my next letter how it went!
This week we met with Janet again actually like three times haha we finally got her a French Book of Mormon and she just like loves it, she keeps saying I love this book, I love it. She is so humble and loves God and finds so much peace in what we have been able to shw her in this short time. I can't even believe what a blessing it is to be able to teach such a ready person. Haha I wish I could speak french to her so bad so I could explain to her in my out words what this gospel has done for me, It is true and He is real. The spirit will do that for me though, thank goodness for that!
Some real cool things have happened this week and I know that when you have exact obedience miracles happen. When ever something little, but cool happens me and sister Tuifua are like Miracle! (we have a little jingle tune to it). so one this week was when we were going to look for some people on out list of Find out's we were walked to the bus stop and there was a man there he asked about us and who we are and we talked and then the bus came and we got on. When we got on the bus we got off that the street we thought we needed to be on and as we are walking we figure out the apartment is like across the town but on the same street so we talk all the way there and the person didn't want to talk to us and all this stuff happened and I was thinking, "Something good is going to come out of this I can' feel it" so after much walking and waiting for the bus we finally getting to where we need to be to get to our next appointment as we are walking to the bus stop we ran into the same guy, like okay sorry but that was cool. He says hey what where is your church at I want to come to it. So the Lord works in mysterious ways, like confusing sisters on what roads to go and buses to take just to have perfect timing to meet someone he cares about. It's real.
I hope everything is going great at home and I wish the best of luck to you. thank you for everything you do for me, it means so much and I am so thankful. I love you and God be with you till we meet again. :)

Keep on Keepin on!
