Letters to mom and dad

This is a couple of letters that Sister Tincher wrote to her mom and dad.  I thought it was good to hear the events of the week:

Hello Mom!

Its so nice to hear from you! It sounds like you have a wonderful week. :) I got in a wreck like two weeks. I forgot to let you know... just like a bumper thing....  ugh I could throw up. It's like so expensive. I am so mad at myself I don't know what to do. I am so stressed!

We got transferred this week! I am training like I told you last week and my new companion is Sister Bishop! She is from Manti, Utah and has 12 siblings! So it's fun. It's going to take some getting used to, to being a trainer I know I will learn a lot because I have already learned so much this first week!

This week was pretty good, we got some contact with people in the area that we have been trying to teach since I first got here so that was good!

We met this man that is a less active. I told dad about him. He is like anti mormon, but was baptized a couple years ago... we went to go meet him and he just started to shove information down our throats. I was so stunned that this was happening and just didn't know how to get out of it, finally after an hour I just stood up and said we have another appointment we need to get to. So we left.

One of the investigators that we are teaching and who is way awesome got a priesthood blessing this past week, she is really what keeps my hopes up in this area. She asked for it herself too! the spirit was so strong and so amazing.

I hope you have a good week!
Love, Sister Tincher

 ***********************
Dear Dad,
Thank you for writing me :) It is definitely different being a trainer. I feel a lot more stressed and like I am doing double the work, but I know I have learned a lot from the past couple of days. I hope I can keep this area up and not slack any more, I am worried that I will get tired and fall short some times, but I know with the help of the Atonement that I will be strengthened.

We have been able to get in contact with some people in our area that we have seen in a while and have had some interesting lessons. There is this man who was baptized like four years ago, but it less active now. He does not believe in the Book of Mormon and is attacking. I brought my new greenie to this guy's house to see how he is doing. and he is a very nice man. He had a group of his friends over and once he knocked he let us in and invited us to sit down and share the word with his friends. So we started to introduce them to the book of Mormon. I was kind of stunned so I didn't know exactly what to do, I look back and think that this probably wasn't the smartest idea. He just starts going off and telling us why the book of mormon isn't true, and be only believe it because these people put it into our heads all he went of for an hour. and he was like standing over me and I am just sitting there. I didn't say anything because anything I could have said wouldn't have been good for Him. But ah it was stressful. I don't think we will go back there. haha.
I hope everything is going well.  I love you and miss you! Hope you have a good week!

Love, Sister Tincher

Transfers

Sister Bishop and Sister Tincher
Transfer Day

Trust in the Lord

This week was a blessing. I think it was such a good reminder to realize that we need to put all trust in God. My favorite scripture is Proverbs 3: 5-6
aTrust in the Lord with all thine bheart; and lean not unto thine cown dunderstanding.
In all thy ways aacknowledge him, and he shall bdirect thy cpaths.

When we go through out our whole day remembering where we came from and who we are, we are going to be guided in the descisons what  to make and become that person that we desire to be. The Lord is on our side cheering for us, he wants us to be successful and will help us get there IF we allow him to. His hand is always stretched out and we just have to grab it!

We had an awesome experience with teaching a wonderful lady who we met while we were at a members home for Thanksgiving. The ward memeber invited her over and we were able to come and teach her the Restoration! the thing is, is that member missionary work is really what helps others recieve the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Something that I learned is that Gospel means "Good News". Jesus Christ brought forth His Good news, and you know what this good news is? It is that we all have the power with in us to be cleansed from sin and return to our Heavenly Father. It is through faith in Jesus Christ that we are able to find the fullness of Joy, and we access this by repenting and utilizing the Atonement that we made for us. I love it! It's so perfect and makes so much sense.
When we were tracting the other day we knocked on this lady's house and she got us confused with another religion and said she didn't like how only a certain number is allowed into heaven. And we could say no! Our Heavenly Father wants us all back!
Eternal life is for everyone! And anyone that makes the choice to persue it.

So this here is come news that I best be telling you. We got our transfer call, we are a little bit sad haha, but it's okay its how mission likfe is! I am going to stay here in Buffalo Grove and train! I am getting a newbie haha pray for me!  Or maybe pray for her... haha. And Sister. McClimans is going to Indiana! We are excited for a new challenge and to see what is coming our way. I love being a missionary, and learning so much while working with others. the Lord blesses those who strive to do His will, all we have to do is have a desire and things will fall into place. I know that with all my heart. There is so much happiness in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Lehi's dream he said himself, "I beheld a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy."... In 1 Nephi 8:12 "as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherfore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew it was desirable above all other fruit."
I can fully relate to this scripture. I love this gospel and I am so thankful for Joseph Smith and for him to bring to pass the Restoration through God. I know that this is Christ church and His only church with the fullness of His teachings.
I love you all so much and I wish you the best of luck this week! You are a blessing!
Love, Sister Tincher :)

Feed My Sheep

This week has been a little crazy, but we have had some success, more than usual, with teaching! It makes it so much more of a privledge to be able to teach people and even get the chance to talk to someone, you really start to see the importance of this message and what it can do for people. One of the coolest moments as a missionary I have come to notice, is that when you have the chance to bare your tesimony and see the effect it has one someone, you can tell when something clicks for a person or when they learn something. I love it, I love being an instrument for God to spread His message. But listen to this! the coolest part about this, is EVERY member is a missionary. That is just the fact. That is our calling and duty as being blessed with this knowledge. And part of our covenant with being baptized is that we promise God to stand as a witness to Him at all times, and in all places. Being a missionary doesn't come by the name tag we are given, but by the message we bring to the heart of His children who are searching. And everyone is searching, so share what you have to say, because everyone can benefit from it!

We had our zone meeting this past week and we were given this talk that Elder Holland gave years ago when they first came out with the Preach my Gospel mission. He tells of the story where he calls Peter to be a fisher of men, again, after Christ is resurrected and Peter goes back to his old fishing job. Jesus calls him again to "Feed my Sheep" to leave behind what he is doing and go back to teach his brothers and sisters on this earth. I love this, because God wants all of His children to return to Him, so he sends forth His children that know, to feed His sheep. I know that there is a true power that comes from baring your testimony of the Only Begotten Son, he stand with you as you do. You are not alone and in return for doing so he blesses you with joy in the journey. I love the Savior.

Our President has given us a challenge to read the whole Book of Mormon by April's General Conference and while we read to mark everything that has to do with Jesus Christ and The Atonement. I have been doing this for about a month, and I am stunned at how much I have learned, and how much my testimony of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice has grown. I am truely thankful for the Atonement He has made. To make it possible to be clean, and live everyday with the strength of the Lord leading me to do better that I did yesterday, everything is possible when you involve God... everything has to do with Him if you are looking. I know that my Father lives, and He loves us more that we can comprehend. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and another testimony of Jesus Christ and His great sacrifice he has made. There is none other we can go through, to find ever lasting happiness.
I love you, and miss you. I am thankful for everything you have done for me. And who I am today because of what you all have taught me! I hope you have an excellent week!!
Keep on, keepin on :)
love, Sister Tincher

Happy New Year from Chicago!

Hello!!!
Well it is really good to hear from you; sorry I wasn't able to write you back until now! It has been a little bit cold... so we have had to take precautions and the town was shut down yesterday due to "extreme cold temperatures".   I think it got down to -45 with wind chill. It's been an exciting time for us since the holidays have finally ended.  You may be surprised by hearing that from me, but when you are a missionary the Holidays take a toll on your teaching numbers and such. It was so fun and such a privilege to be a missionary this time of the year, and I get to do it again! Hopefully my companion next year can live up to Sis. McClimans; we are too much fun sometimes.
So we finally got to teach our two investigators we have last week! It snowed all of new Year’s eve and New Year’s Day and so we got about two ft. of snow! It was so crazy, and so fun. While we were headed to an appointment there was not parking.  Since we were already running a little late because we were headed back from a meeting and the snow was wretched, we tried to park in this vacant parking lot that, well... wasn't plowed.. ever, so there was about a foot of snow. When we pulled in there I was thinking that this may not be a good idea, but you know... sometimes when time is pressuring you just don't care. Haha so we got stuck, and since I wasn't driving I had to push the car out... first off I was freezing, second... my boots aren't made for hiking in the mountains so I was slipping all around. Haha don't worry I wasn't mad, but we got out of there luckily. Some man with a plow on the front of his truck helped us out. And we got to the lesson! It went wonderful and then we were able to set up another time to meet with her! The Lord is merciful that is all I can say, and I think we learned from out mistake :)
We also got to teach our other investigator who is really close to baptism! She is way awesome and we are so privileged to be working with her! So that was just a privilege to be able to do that. We watched the movie, finding Faith in Christ. Which is so good! I think it delivers a perfect message about the healing that Christ did while He lived here on the earth. He healed and taught so many. Everything is possible through Faith. I know that pure faith will bring to pass great miracles. This will open doors you may have never thought possible. There is an absolute true power to Faith. God’s whole plan is about Faith in Christ. It is the First principle! This movie shows Christ healing these people at the time, but in all reality we need to be healed too, whether it’s physically or spiritually, and we can be with the use of the Atonement. Christ still continues the work He performed while he was on the earth, he still heals us, but it is by faith in his Atonement that we will become healed. One of my favored lines Christ so often says is, "Go forth thy faith hath made thee whole." So faith, it all starts with hope Ether 12:4
"Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with asurety bhope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which chope cometh of dfaith, maketh an eanchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in fgood works, being led to gglorify God."
So if your faith is small, just remember to have that hope, a surety of hope and it will come, because God works by order and what he tells us is the truth. I love this gospel, and I love this church. I am so thankful for all that it was done for me. And I am so thankful for my family, and the examples that they have been for me. I know with all my heart that this is His church, The Church of Jesus Christ. It is not the Church of Man. It is not the church of Joseph Smith. It is not the Church of Thomas S. Monson. It is the Church of Jesus Christ.
I love you, and miss you. I wish the best for you this upcoming week and I can't wait to talk to you later!
Love, Sister Tincher :)
